　今年最後にご紹介したいのは日本人アーティストによるロック・アルバムでは全世界的に最も高い知名度を誇るものです。メンバー4人中2人が元ビートルズで1人が元マンフレッド・マンでイギリス原盤のアルバムですから制作国ではブリティッシュ・ロックになりますし、特別に1曲アメリカ最高のフリー・ジャズ・カルテットとのセッション曲を収録してあり、この伝説的カルテットはこのメンバーでの公式レコーディングはこれが唯一というテイクです。アルバムの邦題は『ヨーコの心』で、対をなす『ジョンの魂(原題"John Lenon / Plastic Ono Band")』と同時リリース、メンバーも同一でジャケットもジョン・レノンによって統一デザインされました。甲乙つけがたい夫婦アルバムですが、『John Lenon / Plastic Ono Band』が自意識と演出過多で鼻につく時に本作の方を聴くと音楽的な快感はむしろこちらの方に軍配が上がるとも思え、少なくともベースとドラムスの破壊力は『John Lenon～』より確実に上です。『Imagine』と対でリリースされた次作『Fly』とともに早すぎたポスト・ロックの金字塔と言っては持ち上げすぎかもしれませんが、類のないユニークなポップ音楽で、この場合の"ポップ"はポップ・アートの"ポップ"という点でも本作を画期的な成功作にしています。
